Wolverhampton became a city at the dawn of the new Millennium, yet its origins lie in the Anglo-Saxon kings. The Industrial Revolution brought heavy industry with many Wulfrunians employed in car, motorbike and tyre manufacturing. Wolverhampton is now forging a new future with the transformation of the city centre, revamped public transport links and students flocking to its university. It is also well known for its football club Wolverhampton Wanderers
