They have been awarded the sum of £78,886 for the renovation of both the pitched and the flat roof. Leigh Ingham, MP for Stafford, Eccleshall, and the villages, welcomes this “brilliant news” for the community venue, where she has both hosted and attended events.

The roof renovation project will ensure that the building is safe and fit for use by a variety of local community groups, who provide a range of services and activities for local residents, such as Aspire Group for adults with learning disabilities.

The renovations will benefit a footfall of 20,000 people a year who use Stafford North End Community Centre for a range of activities with around 550 people per week benefiting from the facility as members of 23 different groups.

Mike Winkle, Trustee of Stafford North End Community Centre, said: “The roof renovation, with the support of The National Lottery Community Fund, will allow the us to continue to benefit those living in the north end of Stafford and surrounding neighbourhood by providing a warm, weatherproof and welcoming space for recreation and leisure activities.

“New tiles and a newly insulated flat roof will protect the building way into the future leaving a legacy for the community.”

Leigh Ingham, MP for Stafford, Eccleshall, and the villages said: “Stafford North End Community Centre is a brilliant community venue, where I’ve both hosted and attended events, and this funding means it will continue for years to come. Well done to the whole team on the successful bid, it’s no small feat!”

The continued use of the centre for a variety of events and activities will contribute to positive changes in health, social well-being and cohesion within the local community.
