This heartfelt initiative has already seen many dedications, and there’s still time to take part. Dedications can be made until midday on Wednesday 16th April.

In return for a donation, supporters can personalise an orange gerbera with the name of a loved one they have lost. These flowers will then be placed in the hospice’s Celebrate Lives Lived gardens throughout May at their site in Whittington.

Since losing her mother in 2020, Ann Freeman, from Sutton Coldfield, has made yearly dedications to celebrate her mum’s life. This year, her tribute carries even deeper meaning as she also remembers her father, George, who spent his final weeks at St Giles Hospice in 2023 after being diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Now, Ann is urging the community to support St Giles Hospice so others can experience the same level of care and dignity her dad did. Funds raised through Celebrate Lives Lived will help the hospice continue its vital work for patients and their loved ones.

Ann said: “The care my dad received was exceptional. He was never in pain, and I was able to be by his side. I want other families to have that same comfort.”

Chloe Herbert, Head of Fundraising at St Giles Hospice, said: “Celebrate Lives Lived offers a special way to remember your loved ones each spring and everyone is welcome to join us as we commemorate those we have lost.

"You can come along to visit the garden throughout the month of May and at the end of the month you can take the Gerbera home as a special keepsake or to plant in your own garden.”
