"My niece Phoebe was born on 19 April 2024. She wasn't gaining weight, small on the growth side and was rapidly breathing," says Laura Watts.

"Phoebe was in and out of hospital for this reason and had a long stay in New Cross Hospital PAU followed by ECGs and echo. The echo revealed a large hole in the heart (ventricular septal defect) which could not be left due to its size. She had to undergo open heart surgery at just 4-5 months old which was done at Birmingham Children's Hospital. She remained in this hospital for about a week and then was sent home due to her progress! There was a suspicion prior to the heart surgery of possible syndrome so they sent for genetic testing; this revealed Phoebe has Craniosynostosis, Crouzon syndrome, and Pfeiffer syndrome, 1 in 100,000 children have this we have been told. She will now need to undergo possible surgery to her skull to help her brain grow and develop but we find out more about this in May.

"She is such a brave little girl already and has been through so much!

"We are hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, 12 April, from 12 noon to 5pm which will host lots of fun activities for children. We hope you can pop by and help us raise funds for the amazing hospital and charity."

Venue: Tipton Sports & Social Club, Sedgley Road East, Tipton DY4 8XA.
