The charity, based close to the housebuilder’s The Lapwings and The Catkins developments, helps all fire service personnel, both past and present, and their families in a variety of ways. David Wilson Homes’ contribution will go towards its various services.
These services range from physical and emotional support to dealing with injury and trauma. It provides respite for families who have children with additional needs, residential rehabilitation facilities and facilitates a 24/7 crisis line.

Glynn Luznyj, Deputy Chief Fire Officer at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “This is a landmark year for the service, and I’d like to thank David Wilson Homes for this kind donation towards our efforts to raise £50,000 for The Fire Fighters Charity to mark 50 years since our organisation first came together.

“The money will help the charity in its work to support past and present fire and rescue service personnel, as well as families and many other eligible individuals. It offers a range of services, from expert support and advice over the phone, online or in-person, to groups for retirees and a wellbeing hub.”

David Wilson Homes’ donation was made through its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Foundation. It is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.
Glynn added: “The Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service will be hosting three Community Open Days in 2025, in Stafford in May, Tamworth in June and Sandyford in September, with a special 60th anniversary event in Tutbury on July 19.
“All of these events are a great opportunity for our communities to come to our stations, interact with fire service staff and see what the service offers. They involve demonstrations, fun activities and opportunities to see the various appliances we have.”
Helen Lewis, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “We are proud to support the Fire Fighters Charity and the great work it does across Staffordshire and the surrounding areas.
“We are committed to getting involved with local charities to ensure they can continue to provide essential services for local people.”
