Wolgarston's group of students have been spending the past couple months in school rehearsing for the event, giving up their lunchtimes to do so with Mr Ben Lamb, Director of Music at Lichfield Cathedral.

The students from Wolgarston were part of a larger choir during the event that consisted of other students from other secondary schools in the Staffordshire and Shropshire.

During the afternoon Wolgarston students took part in a group rehearsal for the first time with the other 182 students who were in attendance.

Students Sam Aldridge and Ava Sullman (Year 10 students) were chosen to read out a prayer during Evensong.

"It was so amazing to see all the behind the scenes of what goes on in the cathedral,” said Abigail McDonald (Year 10 student), “To sing in it is such a big honour, as I have been visiting this cathedral since I was very young.”

“The venue was stunning,” said Ava Sullman (Year 10 student), “It was an honour to perform there.”

“It was a surreal experience,” said Aiden Garn (Year 10 student), "I’m so glad we had the opportunity to take part.”

“Our students were absolutely amazing and did Wolgarston proud,” said Miss Sarah-Jane Roberts, Learning Resources Centre Administrator. “They have all worked so hard and I felt so privileged to be able to accompany them during this brilliant event.”

During the day Wolgarston students were given access to the Lichfield Choir practice rooms in a house opposite the cathedral. Students were able to showcase their musical skills to one another due to having access to musical equipment in the practice rooms.
