The event gave the opportunity to share this meaningful occasion with Acorns CEO, Trevor Johnson, and Imam Asad MBE from Birmingham Central Mosque and reflect on Ramadan whilst hearing stories from families celebrating their faith with Acorns. The event brought people together as one community

Acorns provide care in three Hospices; Birmingham, The Black Country (Walsall) and Worcester.

Their Hospices provide a home from home environment where children can take part in a variety of fun and therapeutic activities, from arts and crafts sessions to hydrotherapy.

Children visit Acorns for short breaks, end of life and emergency care, whilst providing families with a much needed break from caring round the clock.

It costs around £11m every year to provide their services and they heavily rely on our generosity.

Trevor Johnson, CEO said: "Acorns is here to support all communities and this event is to break down any barriers. This event was the first of it's kind and will be a regular going forward. People often think of Hospices and think end of life, but the message I want to give today is that we are here to give everlasting memories."

The event was attended by many dignitaries including vice consulate of the Pakistan Embassy Sadia Malik and West Midlands High Sheriff Award winner Shaz Saleem.

Shaz Saleem, High Sheriff Award winner and community champion said: "It was a privilege and honour to attend a special event hosted by Acorns.

"I was amazed to see the great work being done, there was a very peaceful and calm atmosphere with many children having the opportunity to take part in great facilities such as a sensory room, toy area, games area and a pool. There garden which included a memorial ground was beautiful.

"Thank you to the amazing family of Acorns for such a fantastic event. I would like say a huge thank you to all their staff and volunteers."
