The role of the High Sheriff is an important one in our community. The High Sheriff is appointed by the King and serves as the representative of the Crown in the county.

The High Sheriff can give High Sheriff’s Awards’ to recognise the work of individuals or community groups within their county. These awards are a way of recognising and celebrating the work of individuals and organisations within the County who have made outstanding contributions to the communities in which they live or work and whose work might not otherwise have attracted appreciation from the normal sources.
Douglas Wright, MBE DL presented the Award said: "Shaz Saleem nomination highlights the remarkable impact he has made through his dedication and service. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. Mr Saleem efforts inspire those around him, and we are excited to celebrate Mr. Saleem and his accomplishments."
Reflecting on the honour, Shaz shared, "It was truly humbling to be nominated for this award and to spend the evening among such an inspiring group of people. I will dutifully continue to work in the community that I love, and I’m proud to serve.
"I dedicate this award to my family, my community, and my late grandad, who taught me the importance of helping others. His teachings inspire me today.
