National Muslim charity launches nationwide invitation to ‘share a meal’ during Ramadan
UK Islamic Mission (UKIM) is proud to announce its 2025 Ramadan Unity Iftaar initiative. With the auspicious month of Ramadan approaching, the breaking of the fast for Muslims will be celebrated across the UK at numerous venues including mosques and community centres, as well as at football grounds as has been the case in recent years.

Unity Iftaar will see invitations sent out to neighbourhoods across the country - to local residents, council members, and public service organisations and personnel to participate in sharing food at sunset, signifying the end of the fasting day. Fasting is not a prerequisite to join the meal, however anyone interested in fasting will receive support and guidance upon registering their interest at a participating mosque and will be warmly welcomed to join the community at the end of the day. This initiative aims to facilitate interaction among people from diverse backgrounds, fostering stronger relations and breaking down barriers.
Peter Adams, a prominent Christian leader, summarised his thoughts on Unity Iftaar by saying: "Attending Iftars during Ramadan to break fast with Muslim colleagues and friends is always a highlight in my year! To enjoy great food and conversation about each of our faiths, about our family, our homes, about life is a privilege I never get over. Years ago, I took a Muslim friend to an event where he shared about his experience of Christmas. He encouraged us in our celebration of feasts! So, let’s encourage our Muslim friends, neighbours and colleagues in the same way, whether we are Christians or people of other faiths or none!”
Amir Suleman, Spokesperson, said: "Unity Iftaar offers a heartfelt invitation to come together and enjoy a lovely evening meal as Muslims open their fast during the month of Ramadan. It brings people of all faiths (and none), of all walks of life, the young and the elderly, as well as families and neighbourhoods together to celebrate respect, common values and better understanding of one another. Unity Iftaar will touch thousands of our fellow citizens across most of the country. It is a unique occasion uniting community through a celebratory meal in a friendly and informal atmosphere, during the blessed month of Ramadan."
Organisations, Muslim or otherwise, interested in participating and offering Unity Iftaar are encouraged to register on the provided platform – unityiftaar.org.
