At the heart of this initiative is a critical question: What does a safe and connected future look like in Lichfield District, and how can community safety strategies address barriers, bridge generational gaps, and inspire engagement?
To explore this, an online survey has been launched featuring a range of questions to understand how safe residents feel, their biggest concerns, what contributes to their sense of security, and what they believe works well, or needs improvement, in the district.
The insights gathered will directly inform the Community Safety Strategy, guiding the actions of the Lichfield District Community Safety Partnership over the next three years. This partnership - comprising Lichfield District Council, Staffordshire Police, Bromford Housing, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board, and Staffordshire and West Midlands Probation Trust - holds regular engagement events and operations aimed at making communities safer and ensuring that those who live and work here feel protected.
To bring this vision to life, Impera Analytics has been commissioned to lead the development of the strategy. In addition, they are creating a data dashboard to track key local statistics, enabling the partnership to measure progress and adapt strategies effectively.
Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Engagement and Chair of the Community Safety Partnership, Councillor Richard Cox, said: “People’s views regarding their safety in the district are of vital importance to the creation of the community safety strategy.
“I would ask people to complete the survey as the information we receive will help us continue to make improvements.
“Residents’ views are being gathered via workshops, interviews and we are inviting people to please fill in the online survey at www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/safetyviews which is open until Monday 31 March at 5pm.”
The survey is completely anonymous, but participants are asked to confirm where they live, so the strategy can better target local issues and concerns.
The creation of the strategy and data dashboard have been supported by the Community Safety Partnership, the Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner for Staffordshire, Lichfield District Council and Bromford.
