The spring performance at the town’s parish church, St Mary’s, Churchfields, will feature the choral masterpiece Petite Messe Solennelle and favourite opera choruses including Mascagni’s Easter Hymn and Verdi’s Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves.

Joining the choir for Rossini Bellissimi, on Saturday, 29 March, will be soprano Eleanor Oldfield, mezzo soprano Rachel Roper, tenor Dominic Lee and baritone Hector Bloggs.

Accompanying them on piano will be Mike Elden and Alastair Moseley, with Paul Trepte on organ, all under the expert eye of conductor Geoff Weaver.

Lindsay White, choir member and honorary secretary, said: “The Petite Messe Solennelle is a delectable work. It was Rossini’s last major composition and was his farewell to the world.

“The programme is a wonderful selection of music, which we hope our audience enjoy listening to as much as we enjoy singing.”
