Cannock parent has turned her passion for messy play into a thriving business!
Owner Beth became a franchisee for Little Mess Cannock – part of The Little Sensory Company – in October 2024, after spending years setting up messy and sensory play activity trays for her daughter. After seeing the benefits of messy play firsthand, the decision was made to set up Little Mess Cannock and the business has gone from strength to strength.

The set up’s include a variety of textures and materials for children to explore, pat, squelch and grasp – including both edible and non-edible materials for a full sensory experience. Sessions also include water play, painting area, bubbles, craft table and more!
Messy play is known to help children develop a number of skills, including fine motor and pre writing skills, dexterity, creativity and pincer grip to name a few. Messy play is also known to promote sensory and emotional regulation and promote independence through open ended play as well as encouraging children to explore food. Each session and tray is planned with this in mind.
Little Mess Cannock sessions run during the week and can also be found across the Cannock and Rugeley areas on weekends. Beth added: “The weekend sessions have been hugely popular and spaces are always booked up quickly”. Sessions are suitable for children age 6 months – 5 years. Older siblings are welcome at Little Mess – it’s fun for all the family! The best part for parents is... the mess and clean up stays with Beth and out of your family home.

Some upcoming events that Beth will be running are weekly term time classes held at Rugeley Cricket Club on Wednesday mornings. Weekend events include a Mother’s Day special on Saturday, 29 March at Wedges Mills Village Hall and Eggstra Big Mess (Easter) events on Sunday, 6 April at Calf Heath Village Hall and Saturday, 12 April at Gentleshaw Village Hall. Children will also be joined by a very special guest at the Easter sessions – Peter Rabbit! Information on other sessions can be found on the website.

Little Mess Cannock also regularly collaborate with other local small businesses, including photographers, book stalls and cake makers, working together to support each other and add a special extra touch to the messy play events.

To celebrate her first 6 months of success, Beth is offering a discount code for readers. If you’d like to join the messy play fun head over to the website cannock.thelittlesensory.co to book your space (spaces must be pre-booked) and use the discount code ‘NEWS10’ by 1 April.
