Established in 1994 and based in Wolverhampton, Merridale is among the UK’s leading commercial fuelling manufacturers, capable of designing, developing and building in-house a complete range of equipment, from a single pump to a complete turnkey package.

Merridale’s systems are installed at over 5,000 sites throughout the UK, Ireland, Channel Islands and the Netherlands, with the company providing maintenance, calibration and supporting software to help drive efficiencies for its clients.

Paul Ledbury and John Russell, who were among Merridale’s three co-founders, instructed KBS Corporate upon a sale of the company.

A familiar name to KBS stepped forward as the buyer, with Teqnion adding Merridale to Stanwell Group, Surge Protection Devices, Nubis Solutions, Avelair, UK Lanyard Makers and Awarded 2U, to complete its seventh acquisition through the Bolton-based company sales specialist since May 2023.

“John and I founded Merridale 30 years ago, and as we now begin to approach retirement age it has become imperative for us to make provision for the long-term future of the business, our employees and our customers,” said Paul Ledbury, who will continue to run the company with John Russell.

“We are delighted that in Teqnion we have found a company who will respect our legacy, and protect the integrity and reputation of the business and the Merridale brand in the years to come.

“We shall continue to work in the business to effect a smooth transition in ownership and support the business as it moves forward.”

Johan Steene, CEO of Teqnion, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the Merridale team to the Teqnion family. Precise fuel management is essential for a successful and sustainable business, and Paul, John and their colleagues have the perfect system to make it happen.”

George Barnes, KBS Associate Corporate Director, led the transaction, which he was delighted to bring to a successful conclusion.

“I’d like to offer my congratulations to Paul and John,” said George. “Working with them was a pleasure, along with their solicitor, Hitesh Punjani of Keelys.

“It was also great to work with Daniel Zhang, the CXO of Teqnion, who are an extremely professional company. I very much hope we will be working together again in the future.”
