Temper & Brown on Albion Street is a friendly and relaxed neighbourhood pub with a secret courtyard, which re-opened in July last year under owner Roifield Brown.
Roifield has freshened things up with a completely new food offer by partnering with Esmie’s who will deliver next level Caribbean eats such as Jerk Chicken Skewers and Curry Mutton.
Born on the vibrant island of St. Kitts, Esmie never imagined that food would become her lifelong passion. In her younger years, she was the last to volunteer in the kitchen, never considering that her love for cooking would come later in life. But after moving to the UK at the age of 20, she found herself drawn to the flavours and traditions of her Caribbean roots, inspiring her to bring the warmth and soul of island cuisine to a new audience.

In 2004, Esmie took a bold step into the world of street food, starting with humble beginnings but quickly gaining recognition for her unique take on Caribbean flavours. It was her fried dumpling burger that truly put her on the map, becoming a fan favourite and a symbol of her creativity and culinary innovation. With an unwavering commitment to excellent food, outstanding service, and great customer value, Esmie built a brand that became known and loved far beyond its origins.
Today, Esmie’s Caribbean Fusion continues to thrive under the leadership of her daughter, Heaven-Leigh, who carries on her mother’s passion with a modern twist. Infusing the same bold flavours, authentic recipes, and warm hospitality, Esmie’s remains a go-to destination for those craving a true taste of the Caribbean.
Roifield said: “Esmie’s is a great fit for Temper & Brown – we both share a passion for great food, music, family and good times. Esmie’s cooking is authentic, delicious and made with love – I’m confident that guests will fall head over heels with the incredible tastes she’ll be serving up here at the pub.”

One of the signature dishes that will be served at Temper & Brown is the Jerk Chicken Skewers. Esmie said: “The smoky, spicy aroma of jerk chicken reminds me of family dinners, with my mother at the stove and my father sneaking tastes from the pot. The sweet pineapple and pomegranate salsa reminds me of her little twists on classic dishes. Every bite feels like sitting back at that old wooden table, surrounded by laughter and love.”
