Writing group’s boost for Compton Care
'The best thing we’ve ever written' say the members of the U3A Creative Writing Group as they present a cheque for £1,075 to Compton Care fundraiser Sally Woods.

"This is the profit made so far by selling copies of our Anthology 'Senior Moments', hopefully there will be a bit more to come as we have a few copies left." says Tess Fitzsimons, Joint Co-ordinator of the group.
"We wanted to share our writing with others and to show what can be achieved by older members of the community. The Anthology contains short stories, drama, comedy, poetry and memoir, something to appeal to everyone.
"‘Our group has been in existence for about 15 years and we write for learning and for pleasure. Membership has changed over the years but includes one or two original members and newer members.
"We chose Compton Care as our charity to support the great work they do in South Staffs and the Black Country. We would like to thank U3A members and the public for buying our book and helping us support Compton Care."
The Creative Writing Group is part of the UK wide movement of the U3A which has over 1,000 locally run interest groups. Membership is open to people entering their ‘third age’ and not working full-time. The Wolverhampton Group has around 25 interest groups run for and by members themselves. Everyone is welcome, more information can be found at our website wolverhampton.u3asite.uk.
