St Giles Hospice joins groundbreaking national legacy campaign
A Midlands-based hospice has announced that it is joining forces with 143 other hospices across Britain in a groundbreaking campaign to secure the future of end of life care.

St Giles Hospice, which serves communities across Staffordshire and North Birmingham, is part of the National Hospice Legacy Campaign, running from 17 February to 2 March 2025.
The campaign, brought together by Hospice UK under the banner 'This is Hospice Care', aims to ensure vital hospice services remain available for future generations through gifts in wills.
St Giles Hospice spends close to £10 million annually providing specialist care, with just 18 per cent of this funded by the Government. The remainder comes from the incredible generosity of the local community, with one in six patients cared for through donations received from legacy gifts.
Elinor Eustace, Chief Executive of St Giles Hospice, said: "Hospice care touches all our lives – whether for ourselves, a loved one, or a friend. At St Giles, we're here to provide comfort, dignity and expert care through life's most challenging times. But we simply couldn't do this without the remarkable support of our community.
"Gifts in wills, no matter the size, help ensure we can continue providing vital care for generations to come. These thoughtful donations make an extraordinary difference, funding specialist care and support when people need it most."
In 2022-23, hospices across the UK provided care to 300,000 people. However, research shows that one in four people die without the care and support they need. Across the UK, hospices must raise over £1 billion annually through charitable donations to maintain their essential services.
To support those considering leaving a gift in their will, no matter the size , St Giles Hospice has partnered with will-writing experts Octopus Legacy to provide a free will-writing service, helping to protect essential hospice care for future generations. This thoughtful partnership ensures peace of mind while creating lasting impact - for all, for now, forever.
