The campaign aims to raise awareness about the vital role hospices play in communities and shift public perceptions of hospice care. It features a powerful TV advert designed to capture hearts and minds based on real-life hospice stories. The goal is to encourage people to consider leaving a gift in their will to support their local hospice, ensuring that these essential services can continue to provide their compassionate and specialist care for future generations.

To coincide with the campaign, the charity is launching a free will writing initiative to encourage more people to leave a gift in their will to help continue delivery of its specialist palliative and bereavement support services.

James Elliott, Compton’s Director of Income Generation, said: “Hospices like Compton are at the very heart of communities, offering compassionate care and specialist support when it’s needed most. For many of us, a hospice will touch our lives, whether for ourselves, a loved one, or a friend, providing comfort, dignity, and expert care through life's most challenging times. But just as this incredible support wouldn't exist without hospices across the UK, hospice care wouldn't exist without the support of the public.

“We rely heavily on charitable donations to keep our doors open and our specialist services running. That's why we've come together with other hospices across the UK to shine a light on the essential role hospices play in our communities, and the impact gifts in wills have on our ability to provide future care.”

Compton is urging the local public to consider leaving a gift in their will and in doing so, help to continue to provide vital care, ensuring that everyone has the expert support they need for generations to come. Gifts in wills fund nearly a quarter of Compton’s work to support people with life limiting conditions.

James continued: “We are pleased to offer a free wills initiative that will enable anyone to make a will free of charge. We appreciate that some people may want to leave a gift to Compton in their will when using this convenient service and legacies of all shapes and sizes, even a small gift, make a big difference in helping us to support our patients and their loved ones. Leaving a gift in your will provides a lasting legacy to ensure we can continue to support our community in the years to come.”

Through gifts in wills, Compton’s patients and their families have access to specialist palliative and end-of-life care, and bereavement support, free of charge, when they need it the most. For more than forty years, the charity has provided high-quality, accessible care and support for the people in the local community living with life limiting conditions.
