UK software company pledges support for Lichfield hospice
A UK business software company has vowed to support a Lichfield-based hospice after seeing media coverage about its severe funding challenges and the launch of its Urgent Appeal.
Sage, provider of Sage Intacct, a financial management software solution used by organisations nationwide, has announced a package of support for St Giles Hospice, which has recently been forced to reduce its services due to financial pressures.
The announcement comes after St Giles revealed significant service reductions in November, including cutting inpatient beds from 23 to 15 and making 22 staff redundant.
The hospice has worked to reduce its initial £1.5 million deficit to £500,000 for 2025, but still faces additional pressures. These ongoing challenges led to the launch of its Urgent Appeal in December.
Craig McFarlane, Customer Success Manager at Sage Intacct said: "After seeing the news on BBC about St Giles and understanding how these changes are impacting our local community, we felt it was important to step forward. St Giles Hospice provides an invaluable service that touches countless lives."
The software company said it is in the process of organising a fundraising hike along the Allendale Way in May 2025, supporting St Giles Hospice alongside two other charities.
Elinor Eustace, CEO at St Giles Hospice said: "We are delighted about this growing partnership with Sage Intacct, who have demonstrated exceptional support during these challenging times. Their willingness to collaborate will help us continue delivering vital care to our community."
Details about the Allendale Way fundraising hike will be announced in the coming months.
The hospice, based in Whittington, near Lichfield, serves communities across Staffordshire and surrounding areas. To support St Giles Hospice's Urgent Appeal, visit stgileshospice.com/urgentappeal, call 01543 432538 or text 10APPEAL to 70460 to donate £10.
