The Voices of Recovery workshop is a six-week development programme providing opportunities for creative expression, skill development and personal growth. It aims to improve participant’s mental health, wellbeing and life skills through music production, songwriting, recording and performance.

Attendees can also access training, support and development from The Recovery College, as well as exploring longer-term wellbeing and support with Black Country Healthcare; the lead provider of mental health, learning disability and autism services across the Black Country.

Over six weeks, participants will learn about mental health and wellbeing, music production, songwriting, recording, music video production and live performance. As well as gaining technical skills in music production, the course will help build their confidence, improve mental health awareness and coping skills, and develop connections with support networks. They will also receive a copy of their recordings.

Speaking about the course, Kirstie Barnes from The Recovery College said: “Black Country Healthcare and The Recovery College are proud to work with community, voluntary and faith organisations across the Black Country, to help develop mental health awareness, skills and connections within our communities.

“We understand the challenges that some young men in our community face and we hope that being able to express themselves and their experiences through music will help to build resilience and improve their mental health and wellbeing.”

John Paul, Studio Manager/Director, Beatsabar said: “At Beatsabar, we've long wanted to collaborate with the NHS, and this new music project for men is the perfect opportunity. Music has the power to heal, connect, and uplift, and we’re excited to create a space where men can express themselves, support one another, and improve their well-being through creativity.

“This partnership is a step towards making a real impact in our community."

The course, which is open to men aged 18 and over, starts on 17 February for six weeks and there are morning or evening sessions. To learn more and book your place contact Beatsabar on 01902 423826 or johnpaul@beatsabarmusicproject.co.uk.
