Black Country couple to host junior football tournament in the slums of Nairobi
Can you help with their appeal for junior football kit donations and boots?
Chris and Alex are visiting Huruma, the second largest slum in Nairobi (350,00 est. population), where crime and drug use is high, half of the young people there live with HIV and around 80 per cent are orphans.
They will be hosting a youth football tournament for Kibra United FC's under 11 and 13s, totalling 32 teams!
Following several zoom calls and conversations it is clear how important football is to these children, meaning more to them than we could ever comprehend, offering hope, a sense of community, a safe place for them to play and be part of a team away from the harsh climate of the slum.
They would be eternally grateful for the donation of the following:
- Premier League or EFL / junior kit
- Football boots for under 11s and 13s
They will also be taking trophies, medals, and resources with them and any financial support towards these and air freight would be incredible.
If you have any of these items to donate please get in touch (tenderbreathwork@gmail.com), or if you are able to donate financially please visit justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tender.
Chris states: "From the meetings and conversations we have had with Kibra United FC we feel privileged to be in a position to be able to help, as even through dodgy WhatsApp & Zoom meetings it's clear that this means more to these young people than we could ever comprehend".
