Dudley's 'Purple Prince' back running for good causes following health scare

Dudley runner Mark Sinclair is turning 60 this year. After running 32 parkruns and nine 9 races in 2024 for Prostate Cancer UK, raising £1,600, the 'Prince Purple Run Tour' was paused in November after Mark discovered he'd had a mild heart attack.

Mark said: "I thought I had been running a few weeks with a chest infection in October/November but kept having breathing issues whilst out running. After going to Russells Hall Hospital in November I was advised from my blood/troponin test that I had had a mild heart attack.

"I have now had a stent fitted and back on tour now for Prostate Cancer UK, also including Active Heart (Dudley) to raise awareness.

"A big thank you to everyone in the Coronary and Post Coronary Care Unit at Russells Hall Hospital for looking after me."

Mark was back training at the end of December and has completed his first parkrun 5k this year in Barrow in 37 minutes. He is hoping to complete the Winter Run in London in late February to raise awareness for both Prostate Cancer UK and Active Heart.
