Ladies group welcome local MP and enjoy 'lively meeting'

In spite of the bitter weather the ladies of the Kingswinford Ladies Luncheon Club came along to The Lodge, Wellington Road, Dudley to enjoy a lovely three-course lunch and to hear from their local MP Mr Mike Wood, accompanied by his chief of staff Yasser.

Mr Wood looked back on 2024 and where we stand today. After 14 years in power, the Conservative Party now has to learn how to work in the opposition and how they can hold the Government to account, therefore facing many new challenges. He was disappointed that the fastest growth had now turned into no growth, and was sorry that everyone had been affected by tax increases. He felt we should still support Ukraine but that negotiations with China and possible changes in America are a concern.

Our ladies asked many varied questions, particularly on the NHS, transport and immigration. These were all answered, which led to a very lively meeting ending with Mr Wood offering hope for the future.

The next luncheon will be on Friday, 14 February at The Lodge 12pm for 12.30pm ending at approximately 3pm. Following a short AGM the speaker will be Mr Keith Edwards on 'Underground Delights' and in March, Kitty Jenkins on 'Discover U'.  Meetings are held on the second Friday each month and visitors are most welcome and can attend three times before deciding to join.
