West Bromwich care service delivers hampers to local community
Generous staff from a West Bromwich care service put together 21 Christmas hampers for local people who live in adapted living services for elderly and disabled residents.
Pauline Blair-Manuel is a receptionist at Cygnet Heathers, a 20-bed service providing neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative rehabilitation for men with mental health difficulties and acquired brain injury.
Pauline organises donations from staff to be made into hampers for local people who live adapted living services for elderly and disabled residents around the Cygnet Health Care service, on Grout Street.
Pauline asked caring colleagues to bring in food items including biscuits, marmalade, Christmas puddings, mince pies, chocolates, and tinned food, as well as Christmas crackers and other seasonal items.
Alongside Jason Mole, the Housekeeping Supervisor at Cygnet Heathers, Pauline starts making up the hampers in October.
Pauline said: “Staff were fantastic bringing in donations, and along with our students we put the 21 hampers together.
“In December, Jason and I went out with two of our service users to deliver the hampers, supported by many of our staff.
“This was a beautiful time giving back to our community and keeping good relations with the residents in our area. The residents were so grateful and very happy, and thanked us for the hampers, which we hope brought some Christmas cheer.”
