It was built between 1869 and 1875 for John Corbett the ‘Worcestershire Salt King’ and his wife Anna.

Corbett was the son of a Delph canal boat carrier and rose to become one of the most successful entrepreneurs of his age.

The talk will tell the story of this extremely wealthy industrialist and benefactor, his splendid Victorian country mansion and the incredible periods of English history its life has spanned.

John lives in Worcester and works as a part-time teacher and part-time writer. He has published 20 books so far, many of them telling the stories of prominent country houses.

The society's meetings start at 2.30pm and are held at The Museum of Carpet, in Stour Vale Mill, Green Street, in Kidderminster. There is a small charge for visitors who are very welcome.
