Tettenhall Wood School celebrates great Ofsted report
Tettenhall Wood School is celebrating a fantastic achievement following its Ofsted inspection last month. The inspection marks the strongest report the school has received in 16 years, reflecting significant progress since the previous inspection in 2023, where areas for improvement were identified.
Headteacher, Ross Ashcroft, who took on the role in January 2024, expressed immense pride in the outcome: “Since stepping into this role, I have been determined to drive meaningful, positive change for our pupils, families, and staff. The inspection team recognised the impact of this hard work, and I am thrilled with their feedback.”
The school achieved a ‘Good’ rating across all key areas, with Behaviour and Attitudes receiving the top grade of ‘Outstanding’. Inspectors praised the school’s transformation and highlighted several standout achievements:
- Behaviour and Attitudes: Outstanding - Inspectors commended the exceptional behaviour of pupils, describing it as exemplary. Pupils support one another, remain focused, and take pride in their roles and responsibilities across the school.
- Quality of Education: Good - The school’s ambitious and carefully planned new curriculum ensures that pupils gain the skills, knowledge, and understanding they need to succeed in the future.
- Personal Development: Good - The report praised the wide range of opportunities provided to pupils, helping them develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills. Particular mention was given to the school’s impactful careers programme.
- Leadership and Management: Good - Inspectors recognised the clear vision, strong leadership, and dedication of staff, which have led to these significant improvements in a short time.
- Sixth-Form Provision: Good - Sixth-form students benefit from excellent support, qualifications, and real-world experiences, effectively preparing them for life beyond school.
The report described Tettenhall Wood School as a “happy, welcoming, and ambitious” place where positive relationships, a nurturing atmosphere, and excellent support enable pupils to thrive. This is a significant turnaround from 2023, when standards were declining.
Reflecting on this achievement, Ross Ashcroft added: “This report is a testament to the incredible hard work, dedication, and belief of our staff, pupils, governors, and the wider school community. To achieve such transformation in less than a year is truly fantastic.”
Nicola Licata, CEO of Amethyst trust added: “The whole community have worked incredibly hard to ensure that Tettenhall Wood School is thriving. I cannot praise the headteacher, Ross Ashcroft, highly enough for his determination to make the school a positive place for students, staff and parents. Well done Team TWS!”
Tettenhall Wood School remains committed to building on this success, continuing to provide the very best opportunities for its pupils and ensuring a bright future for the entire school community.
