Specsavers on the High Street is acting as a drop off point for customers and local businesses. Those interested in supporting local families can donate non-perishable food items and toiletries in store.

"Supporting the community is really important to us, and now more than ever, it feels vital," says store director, Mohit Verma. "Christmas can be a really difficult time for people in need, especially with the ongoing cost of living crisis impacting so many of us.

"Our optical assistant, Jade Law-Green and store manager, Gemma Bliss are working closely on this fantastic project to help local individuals and families."

Specsavers in Brownhills will be accepting donations until Wednesday, 18 December and the items most in demand include, tinned and dry foods such as soup and pasta, fruit juice, long life milk, hygiene products and children’s items such as soaps, shower gels, nappies and baby wipes. Donations will be taken to Brownhills Community Centre, which will then be distributed to people in need.

"We appreciate all of the support that our local community has offered,’ adds Jade. "As a team, we’re passionate about supporting vulnerable individuals and families, and both Gemma and I are working hard to gather as many donations as possible.

"By simply adding an extra item to your weekly food shop, you could help The Lamp to support local families," continues Gemma. "We’d like to say a huge thank you to those who have already donated."

The Lamp Foodbank works in partnership with the Black Country Foodbank. It’s open every Tuesday and Thursday from 11am-1pm to provide essential food and toiletries to those who need it most in the local community.

To make a donation, visit the store at Unit 1, 12-28 High Street, Brownhills, Walsall, WS8 6EQ, or for more information, call 01543 363790 or visit specsavers.co.uk/brownhills.
