When the team at Care UK’s Edgbaston Manor, on Speedwell Road, learned that 94-year-old Connie White longed to experience a hen party, complete with some tasteful male nudity, they were determined to make it happen.

While discussing the experiences of modern women compared to previous generations with the Edgbaston Manor team, Connie said that the world is more open now than when she was younger. Naturally an adventurous person, Connie has always felt she “missed out” on experiences enjoyed by today’s generation, such as clubbing, travelling, and a wild hen do before she got married.

Connie married her husband, Norman White in 1948. The couple went on to have two sons, Cavan and Martin.

To make it a day to remember, the Edgbaston Manor team welcomed Brandon from Butlers with Bums for a cheeky surprise appearance at the home. Much to everyone’s enjoyment, Brandon strutted into the home’s lounge which had been decorated with hen party-themed balloon.

For the ‘hen’ in question, Brandon presented Connie with red roses and a box of Milk tray, her favourite chocolates, before serving party goers with canapes and drinks.

Commenting on her hen party, Connie said: “I have always been intrigued by hen parties as they weren’t around when I got married. I wasn’t really invited to any beyond that time because I mostly worked in a very masculine work environment.

“The team know I have a weakness for chocolate so to be presented on my birthday with roses by my very own milk tray man is one for the books!”

The hen party was part of Care UK’s wishing tree initiative, which encourages residents to put their wishes forward, allowing them to reconnect with a past hobby or try something completely new – from flying on a plane to enjoying a fish and chip supper, no wish is too big or small.

Zoe Stevenson, General Manager at Edgbaston Manor, said: “Connie shared her thoughts with us on the experiences of the ‘modern woman’ and her desire to explore more experiences that are often taken for granted by today’s generation. She wanted a cheeky hen do, so we were delighted to have been able to deliver!

“Our wishing tree initiative is a great way for residents to share their dreams and interests, and it’s so rewarding to be able to make these a reality. Connie had such fun at her hen party, and we’re pleased that we could give her this experience to bring out her wild and cheeky side.

“I’d like to extend a big thank you to Brandon and Banter Experiences for helping make Connie’s wish come true!
