Nurse and entrepreneur smashes goal for cancer charity after Indian cycle trek
A mum-of-two has surpassed her £4k fundraising target after completing an incredible 300km charity cycle trek across India.
Sally Wagstaff, of Kings Bromley, who runs Sally Wagstaff Aesthetics in Lichfield city centre’s Wade Street, completed the epic trek earlier this month and all in the name of The Stan Bowley Trust.
The 50-year-old was inspired to take on the challenge in memory of loved ones lost to cancer and to support the charity's work to purchase the cutting-edge CyberKnife technology, a revolutionary treatment that can target previously inoperable tumours.
Grit and determination saw Sally complete trek after hip replacement
A resilient Sally embraced the physical challenge just one year after undergoing a total hip replacement, with grit and determination, and with a future right hip replacement pending.
And by rallying support through her JustGiving page and sharing her story the Lichfield community, clients, friends and family have helped her not only met her target but exceed it.......
She has raised £4,195 from over 130 donors and, with Gift Aid, that amount is set to exceed £5,200.
Mum-of-two’s experience has been “life-changing”.
Reflecting on her journey, registered nurse Sally said: “The experience has been life-changing in so many ways. I wasn’t sure how I would cope following my hip replacement, but was very happy to have coped well with the cycling. We really got to see the real India, and it has given me a real determination to travel and see more of the world.
“I have realised I am capable of so much, and there is so much to see, so I am determined to get fitter and stronger, and achieve more challenges like this one in the future.”
