Games followed a tasty meal, mostly traditional fayre with roast turkey then Christmas pudding; though both cod fillet, with panko crispy bake and a vegetarian choice, of twice baked soufflé, were offered.

The fun commenced when Chairman Anne read the Christmas story, of an increasingly popular ‘Right or Left’ game, where everyone started with a gift but each time the word right or left was read, they had to swiftly pass it on. Hence the chaos and giggles started, with ladies struggling to know left from right but everyone was rewarded with a gift.

The lyrics of ‘Did you ever?’ were read earnestly, by Donna to Paul, to make him blush. This was followed by Chrissy, reading a more thoughtful Christmas Poem. A guessing game followed when everyone had to guess what was inside sealed bags. Items varied from a hairclip to a teabag or a fuse or even a button.

Paul, of Chase Golf Club, organised the finale where the ladies of Cannock and District Ladies Probus then produced their own Christmas baubles; glue, glitter and sparkles meant they were all individual, some brighter and more successful than others but a memento of a varied afternoon.

Donations in leu of Christmas cards were collected for the work of the Air Ambulance but before seasons wishes and hugs were shared, Anne gave Chairman’s Cheer ‘a free raffle’ and her thought for the day. A club photo was then taken around the beautiful Christmas tree.
