The free session is organised each year by Brierley Hill & Wordsley South councillors Wayne Little and Adam Davies and will be held at the Oakfield Community Centre on Brettell Lane, seeing lifesaving training delivered by representatives from Dudley Community First Responders.

The event is free to attend and will include a presentation on how to give CPR and use a defibrillator (AED), practice CPR using a ‘Resuscitation Annie’, and additional training on how to use a bleed control kit.

Happening at Oakfield Community Centre on Thursday, 12 December, those wishing to attend will need to arrive for a 6.30pm start with the session expected to finish around 8pm.

Cllr Wayne Little said: “Adam and I are incredibly grateful to Dudley Community First Responders for once again agreeing to deliver this life-saving training for our residents. This session has become a popular annual event, and we hope it will again help give more people the life-saving skills and confidence they need to save lives should they find themselves in such an emergency.”

Cllr Adam Davies said: “We know more lives can be saved if a greater number of people feel able to give CPR or use the lifesaving equipment that is available in our communities – that’s why we started organising these training sessions back in 2021 and have run them every year since.

“Everyone is welcome to attend, whether it’s their first time at a session like this or if they’re attending for a refresher. We’re really pleased that this year’s event will also include training on how to use a bleed control kit.”

Booking isn’t essential, but attendees are asked to register online beforehand where possible to help with preparation for the event.

Registration can be completed online at tinyurl.com/BHdefibtraining

Anyone who can’t register online will be welcome to turn up on the night.
