Mental health clinic celebrates one year of supporting Birmingham locals and businesses
This November marks one year since Clinical Psychologist, Dr Danielle Grey, opened the doors of local mental health clinic, Purple House Clinic Birmingham.
Located in the heart of historic Coleshill, the clinic supports people of all ages with a range of difficulties such as depression, anxiety, ADHD and autism through a variety of assessments and psychological therapies.
During its first year, Purple House Clinic has introduced local people to its services and in return the team have been happily welcomed by the community. Through providing mental health support to those who need it, the clinic has grown extensively, becoming a valued service by people of all ages – and, for Danielle, there are no plans to slow anytime soon!
“I decided to start my own clinic after working in the NHS for many years. Across the entirety of the UK, there is a significant demand for more accessible mental health support, which is only growing as waiting times increase and the criteria to access these services becomes more demanding. I knew l had the knowledge and resources to be a trusted and compassionate provider of mental health and neurodiversity services, and there was no better choice than the Purple House Clinic,” said Danielle.
Danielle and her team of experienced clinicians are extremely proud to have established something that in just one year has had such a positive impact on Birmingham’s community, and reflects the values strongly held by the clinic to offer person-centred support.
“By increasing the number of services available at Purple House Clinic Birmingham, we have quickly positioned ourselves as a trusted and full-service provider of mental health services. I’m proud to have welcomed a team of clinicians who are passionate about supporting Birmingham’s community. Our shared passion is providing a real depth of services so our clients feel like they can come to us for any mental health support they need,” added Danielle.
“We’ve seen the need for in-person therapy sessions and feel proud to be able to offer support from our clinic conveniently located on the outskirts of Birmingham. As clinicians we recognise that mental health isn't just a 9-5 struggle – by providing weekend, evening and online appointments, we’re able to provide care whenever it’s needed.”
Recently, the team of 12 associate clinicians at Purple House Clinic have introduced autism assessments to their extensive list of services. In an effort to support both adults and children facing long waiting lists, the clinic provides comprehensive assessments that are suitably followed by post-diagnostic support such as understanding their diagnosis and therapy. The team hope that this allows people’s minds to be put at ease knowing that there’s another, more accessible, option out there.
“To celebrate all that we have achieved together over the last year, we held a cake and tea event to acknowledge everyone’s hard work. It was wonderful to see everyone come together and be able to take a moment to reflect our achievements. It felt like a real community that we’ve built in such a short period of time, and I’m looking forward to growing it even further.”
Within the next year, Purple House Clinic will be placing a significant focus on developing its organisational wellbeing services – working with organisations to promote psychological wellbeing. There is a growing awareness of the importance of supporting mental health. By adopting a holistic approach and working with organisations to understand the root causes of stress, burnout and fatigue, we can support them in implementing initiatives that create a culture where colleagues can thrive.
“Our plans to extend our workplace services are extremely motivating, and we cannot wait to see what the year ahead has in store for us. I hope that Purple House Clinic Birmingham will become the number one mental health provider in the area, able to help anyone that seeks professional support,” concluded Danielle.
