Waterfront and your local hospice are getting their ducks in a row!
As part of this year's Black Country Day celebrations, The Mary Stevens Hospice partnered with Parcap+, the new owners of Waterfront, Brierley Hill, to race over 2,000 ducks along the canal to raise funds for the Oldswinford based hospice.
The day was filled with fundraising, fun and laughter and hundreds of local people cheering on their ducks as they entered the water. With stalls, entertainment and great food on offer from Digbeth Dining Club, the event was a huge success. To show their appreciation, fundraisers from the hospice recently met with the generous sponsors and supporters of the Duck Race to announce that over £19,000 had been raised on the day.
Satnam Parwana, Chairman of Parcap+ said: “To work in partnership and support The Mary Stevens Hospice by hosting their annual Duck Race was an honour and is very much aligned to our shared values and long-term vision for ‘Waterfront’. Thousands of visitors came along and supported not only the charity but the local businesses on site as they enjoyed a day with family and friends right in the heart of the community. We are very proud to have played a part in what the charity has achieved in 2024 and look forward to supporting them again in 2025”.
Hospice spokesperson, James Totney, Deputy Head of Fundraising, expressed how grateful the hospice was to the duck race sponsors and supporters (pictured), and everyone at The Waterfront, who’s dedication to the events success ensures their vital care can continue to help local people when it is needed.
