Local history event booked to capacity - proving the past is popular
Delving into the past has proved a big attraction at Dudley Archives and Local History Centre.
Delving into the past has proved a big attraction at Dudley Archives and Local History Centre.
All talks and tours during the centre’s recent Local History Day were fully booked, with around 150 people turning up to look round the centre, browse the stalls and listen to presentations about Eve Hill, the graveyard at St Edmund’s Church and body snatching in the West Midlands.
Free to attend, the event was deemed a big success – with the Friends of Dudley Archives raising funds from refreshments and a book sale.
Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise that runs Dudley Archives on behalf of Dudley Council.
“Visitors came from all over the Black Country, the West Midlands and as far afield as London,” said GLL Archivist Hannah Clynes.
“We’re delighted with the really positive feedback we’ve been getting and the event’s popularity”.
