Michelin Star chef to turn on Christmas lights and cook festive delights at Lichfield housing development
Local hero and Michelin Star chef Tom Shepherd is set to turn on the Christmas lights and cook up a storm at Redrow’s Lichfield development.
On Saturday, 30 November, from 2.30pm-4.30pm, Redrow Midlands will be joined by Lichfield’s very own Michelin Star chef Tom Shepherd to turn on the Christmas lights at the housebuilder’s latest development in the region, Curborough Lakes.
Tom Shepherd, owner of Upstairs by Tom Shepherd, opened his restaurant on Bore Street in 2021 and was awarded a Michelin Star within four months, representing the first Michelin star in Staffordshire. In 2023, Tom represented the Central Region on the BBC’s Great British Menu. He went on to win the main course round and cooked at the Banquet where he served his infamous take on Desperate Dan’s Cow Pie.
In addition, Tom has recently become a trustee and member of the board of ambitious national charity Kids’ Village, which is aiming to raise £5m to build the UK’s first holiday village exclusively providing free breaks for children with critical illnesses and their families in Wychnor, near Lichfield.
At the Curborough Lakes event, house hunters will have the opportunity to watch Tom cook at one of the development’s stunning show homes, The Sunningdale, and enjoy his delicious food. Visitors will also be able to look around the different show homes, speak to an IFA representative about mortgages, and learn more about Redrow’s energy-efficient homes and Help to Sell option.
Those in the market for a new home can take a first look around the three-bedroom Oxford Lifestyle, four-bedroom Sunningdale and the five-bedroom Hampstead.
In addition to its stunning design, The Sunningdale show home embodies Redrow’s commitment to sustainability. The property is equipped with eco-friendly features, including an air source heat pump and EV charging points. The air source heat pump provides a low-carbon alternative to traditional heating systems, efficiently extracting heat from the outside air to warm the home. The inclusion of EV charging points also ensures that the home is future-proofed for the growing number of electric vehicle owners.
Elaine Cartwright, Sales Director for Redrow Midlands, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Tom and the community in Lichfield to our Curborough Lakes development as we get ready for Christmas and the New Year.
“The Oxford Lifestyle, The Sunningdale and The Hampstead show homes are all beautiful examples of Redrow craftsmanship and are perfect for family life. As the festive season approaches and the chilly winter nights begin to set in, our new homes are designed to be warm and cozy while saving on energy. With energy-efficient features built-in, homeowners can enjoy the magic of Christmas without worrying about high energy bills—saving thousands of pounds each year*.
“Our Christmas light switch-on will be an opportunity to celebrate the festive season with the local community and show everyone exactly what life is like at Curborough Lakes—to see the Redrow difference first-hand.”
