Cannock dance school students ready for competition grand final
Over 40 competition members from Crystal Academy entered 40 routines in last weekend's Regional Heat hosted by the acclaimed 'So you want to Dance?' competition.
Thanks to the dedication of the students and instructors, all of Crystal Academy’s Novice and Open troupes achieved 100 per cent qualification for the Grand Finals in London.
The recent competition results reflect Crystal Academy’s commitment to high standards in dance, with Open-level dancers successfully continuing their performance trajectory. Notably, several Novice teams, including beginner-level dancers, placed higher than established schools from across the Midlands - a significant achievement and testament to Crystal Academy's supportive, skill-focused training.
Located in Hednesford, Crystal Academy is more than a dance school; it’s a community-driven institution focused on empowering individuals through dance and performing arts. Named Dance School of the Year 2024/25 by a prestigious corporate awards group, the academy is led by seasoned professionals and dedicated volunteers who provide personalised, high-quality instruction in a nurturing environment.
Crystal Academy offers a wide range of dance styles, from ballet and jazz to hip-hop and contemporary, with programmes suited to all ages and skill levels. Students not only learn techniques but gain performance experience through competitions, showcases, and masterclasses. This focus on development has propelled Crystal Academy dancers to championship placements at major events, including UK nationals, regional finals, world finals, and international aerial arts tournaments.
As a community-focused organisation, Crystal Academy collaborates with local councils, foundations, and businesses to make dance accessible to all, offering funded workshops and classes. This strong community support network enables Crystal Academy to provide an inclusive, positive experience for its students and the wider Hednesford area.
With a mission to nurture talent and build confidence, Crystal Academy offers a pathway for dancers to realise their potential. Rather than traditional exams, the school prioritises confidence-building through performances and competitions, allowing every student, from beginner to advanced, to showcase their talents in a supportive environment. For selected members, fully funded Youth Leadership qualifications are also available, offering additional UCAS points for university applications.
Crystal Academy’s students, coaches, and supporters are already looking forward to the Grand Finals in London, where both Novice and Open troupes will represent Cannock with pride. This is an exciting next step in Crystal Academy’s journey to inspire, educate, and empower through the art of dance.
