Originally built in 1793 as an inn by a local family, The Boar’s Head holds a significant place in Birmingham’s history, reflecting the evolution of local hospitality and culture. The transition to a multi-international restaurant in 2010 by local entrepreneurs illustrates a modern approach, blending traditional roots with contemporary dining trends. Buffet dining has seen a resurgence, and this shift not only caters to diverse culinary tastes but also keeps the Boar’s Head relevant in today’s ever changing food scene. The restaurant serves approximately 3,000 covers each week, attracting patrons from across the West Midlands who come to enjoy its offerings.

The restaurant is now under the ownership of Chef Ruchika and Sal, a dynamic husband and wife duo with a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry. Together, they bring over 50 years of combined expertise, having worked with esteemed national and international brands such as Las Iguanas, TGI Friday, Loch Fyne and Red Hot World Buffet.

Chef Ruchika is a trained continental chef with a keen focus on training, development and innovative product creation. Sal excels as an operations professional, specialising in new restaurant development and human resource management. Their complementary skills and industry knowledge position them to elevate the Boar’s Head to new heights of excellence.

Win Lwin Thein, Partner and General Manager of The Boar’s Head, said: “We’re extremely happy to have taken the helm of The Boars Head. Expect an outstanding dining experience at our all-you-can-eat multi-cuisine buffet. Our eye-catching buffet features a selection of tantalising dishes influenced by China, Italy, India and Great Britain.”

Head Chef, Shailendra Kotiyal brings a wealth of experience to his role, having previously worked for nine years at Zen Metro in the city centre before moving over to The Boar’s Head a year ago. With over 26 years of culinary expertise, Chef Kotiyal hails from Dehradun, India, and has honed his skills across the country. His specialties encompass a diverse range of cuisines, including Indian, Continental and Italian, with his signature dish, Caribbean Pork Curry, proving a huge hit amongst its regular patrons.

The venue, accommodating up to 350 guests, boasts three unique seating areas alongside a fully licensed bar. The newly renovated Maharaja Suite serves as a private event space. On-site parking is available, offering ample capacity for more than 90 vehicles.
