Local choir's Christmas concert to capture a winter's night

This year, the Wombourne & District Choral Society is to perform a Christmas Concert at Beckminster Methodist Church, Wolverhampton on Saturday, 14 December at 7.30pm.

The concert will feature the beautiful cantata ‘A Winter’s Night’ by composer Cecilia MacDowell, capturing the essence and atmosphere of the winter season, together with arrangements of well-known carols, such as ‘In Dulci Jubilo’, ‘O Little One Sweet’, and ‘Noel Nouvelet’.

The choir will be singing several seasonal pieces, exploring Christmas traditions, some forgotten in the mists of time and some made famous in song through the ages. Included in the musical programme will be popular community carols for our audience to join in with, helping to fill make an enchanting evening and full of festive cheer, with something for everyone to enjoy. 

The conductor will be the choir's Musical Director, Dr Edward Caine, with accompaniment by Johnathan Clarke.

Tickets are £15 each with children under 16 free and can be bought from choir members, calling 01902 590974, online at the choir’s website wombournechoralsociety.org.uk, or by buying at the door on the night.

Wombourne & District Choral Society is a well-established, mixed choir of some 50 singers, drawn from the local area and have a varied repertoire, mainly full classical works, often performed with soloists and an orchestra. New members are always welcome.
