A group of 50 people walked from WHG's Hatherton Street office, in Walsall, to the hospital in Steelhouse Lane.

The walkers were drawn from WHG colleagues, partners and suppliers.

They managed to raise more than £12,000 in donations before setting off and they bought a van full of presents for the hospital.

The presents will now be handed to the hospital's patients.

Several participants also donned festive fancy dress to get into the spirit of the event.

For one walker taking part was his way of thanking the hospital for the excellent care they gave to his daughter.

Darren Francis, WHG's project supervisor, saw the dedicated work of the hospital first hand when his daughter Rosie needed an emergency operation there in 2011.

Rosie was just 36 hours old when she had to undergo a procedure to unblock her intestines.

She then remained in hospital for more than three weeks.

While she received care Darren and his wife, Gail, were able to stay in the hospital's Ronald McDonald House.

The house provides free accommodation for families with children in hospital.

Now aged five, Rosie has made a full recovery.

Darren, 38, said: "We owe Birmingham Children's Hospital the world. The care that they gave not just to Rosie, but to us as a family was amazing.

"Nothing was too much trouble and the nurses were so caring and considerate.

"This is a way of giving back to them. I just cannot thank them enough."

Paul Dockerill, WHG's director of energy and programme management, pulled on a Santa suit for the walk.

He said: "Our colleagues have really given it their all to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause.

"We are delighted to take part in this walk and want to thank everyone who has got behind our latest charity initiative."

Eloise Davidson, corporate fundraising manager for Birmingham Children's Hospital, said: "On behalf of Birmingham Children's Hospital I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at WHG for their incredible efforts."
