WATCH: Wolverhampton teenage fight club caught on camera

Footage has emerged of a fight between two thugs on a Wolverhampton street, as they are encouraged by a hooded gang.

The clip, entitled The Youth's Of Wolverhampton's Streets Today, lasts just over two and a half minutes and has already been viewed more than 7,500 times on YouTube.

It shows a gang watching a fight break out between two men – who look no older than teenagers.

One of them is knocked to the floor before being repeatedly punched and kicked. He is then seen barely able to walk or stand after the fight.

At one point, around 10 youths wearing dark hoodies can be seen taking in the action and goading the two laying into each other.

Wolverhampton North East MP Emma Reynolds today said she was 'very concerned' by the footage.

Ms Reynolds said: "I am very concerned by this footage of gang violence in Wolverhampton. The city centre should be a safe and welcoming environment both day and night. Everyone should be able to feel safe when enjoying a night out in Wolverhampton.

"Violence like this is letting our city down, and I hope that those responsible are identified and prosecuted."

Earlier this month a new strategy was unveiled which aims to continue work being done to tackle youth and gang violence in the city.

One of the key priorities of the 2016-19 Preventing Gang Involvement and Youth Violence Strategy is to stop people becoming involved in gangs in the first place, with extra emphasis on early intervention and prevention and support people to move away from violence and gangs.

Tougher action will also be taken against those who refuse to leave.

The strategy also seeks to reduce re-offending, improve intelligence gathering by monitoring social media and developing stronger working practices with local schools and the health sector.

West Midlands Police Supt Keith Fraser said that the force continues to 'tackle issues around gangs and youth violence'.
