Caught on CCTV: Victim dragged along by car as it's stolen from petrol station on Christmas Day
This CCTV captures the shocking moments a man is attacked, and is dragged along by his stolen car after it was taken from a petrol station forecourt on Christmas Day.
The 51-year-old man was on the forecourt when he was approached by a man asking for a lift at approximately 6.40am.
When he refused, the man punched him several times and in the ensuing scuffle took his car keys and made a dash for the car.
The victim tried to get into the passenger side of the black VW Golf, and was briefly dragged along before the suspect sped off from the Texaco petrol station in Stratford Road in the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham.
He suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment and was later discharged.
Detective Constable Claire Smith, who is investigating the robbery, said: "This was a particularly nasty crime committed on Christmas morning when the victim was on his way to work.
"His car has not been recovered and this is impacting on his daily life. I'd urge anyone who was on Stratford Road at that time, or who has information regarding the location of the car to get in touch."
Anyone with information is urged to contact Det Con Smith at Stetchford police station on 101. Or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
