It's the aah-boretum donkey

This little donkey is helping bring a nativity scene at a visitor attraction near Kidderminster to life after it was born there just in time for Christmas.

Families visiting Bodenham Arboretum from now until the New Year can see the adorable creature in the manger scene, together with goats, turkeys, cattle and other donkeys.

They can also suggest names for the foal, which is accompanied in the barn by Mary, Jos-eph and the Three Wise Men.

And while baby Jesus will, of course, remain centre stage, it is the lovable animal that has been melting hearts.

Owner James Binnian said: "Donkeys love attention, and the new foal's getting an awful lot of that."

The baby donkey entered the world on December 3 – in perfect time for the Wolverley att-raction's nativity trail. "She's quite boisterous and full of life. She was skipping around, literally, on the second day."

He added that mother Eve, so-named because she was born at the farm on Christmas Eve six years ago, was the "perfect mum". He said: "We haven't needed any interaction. She's done everything."

The nativity trail, which runs until January 1, leads families through the farm's buildings, which have been transformed into biblical scenes, leading up to the main barn's nativity scene.
