The landlady of a Staffordshire pub is urging people to join her and become a fosterer for homeless parrots.

Paula Bird, who runs the Globe Inn, East Cannock Road, Hednesford, is a volunteer fosterer for Birdline Parrot Rescue.

She is looking after 11 tropical birds from her home in Walsall Road, Norton Canes, including parrots, cockatoos and lovebirds

Paula said: "I have always loved parrots and have been a volunteer for Birdline for a number of years. It is very rewarding, and we are always looking for new fosterers.

"The birds come into our care for all sorts of reasons. They are bought as presents, become unwanted after a divorce or are sometimes the victims of cruelty. They can live to a good age and need lots of care and attention.

"We are a charity and always need money to help pay for food and veterinary bills."
