Wolves 5 Forest 1

Wolves were rampant in attack as they recorded their biggest win under Mick McCarthy.

An attacking force to be reckoned with, they were 4-0 up by the break and completed a 5-1 slaughter of Forest, to continue their unbeaten League start to the season.

David Jones broke the deadlock with an excellent team goal in the 14th minute, his first for the club, before creating the second – an own goal from Forest defender Wes Morgan in the 27th minute.

The irresistible Michael Kightly lashed home to make it 3-0 two minutes before half-time and Chris Iwelumo's fifth goal of the season made it four within a minute later.

A Richard Stearman own goal in the 54th minute was no more than a consolation for the sorry visitors.

Wolves did not take long in restoring their four goal cushion, with Kightly netting a fifth in the 62nd minute with a composed chipped finish.

The home side took their goal tally to 13 in four games – and nine in two home games. They could have had a hat full.

Kightly hit the bar, with Ebanks-Blake having an effort ruled out in an embarrassingly one-sided first half.

After the hour, the game predictably became more pedestrian. Wolves were able to give wingers Jarvis and Kightly, as well as Ebanks-Blake, a deserved early finish.

The win was Wolves' biggest since they put six past Gillingham during their promotion season, more than five years ago,

The class of 2008 will be hoping it proves a similar omen.
