Darren McDermott has vowed to bring the British title to the Black Country after winning the battle to fight champion Wayne Elcock.
The "Black Country Bodysnatcher" has to fight Birmingham-based Elcock before the end of May after being made mandatory challenger.
And the 30-year-old gas pipe fitter is convinced there will only be one winner.
"On paper he might be better than me and he can say what he likes about me, but I'm going to get in there and take his title off him," said McDermott.
"Maybe he's not showing me full respect.
"This fight could have gone to other fighters in the Midlands, but this has been a long time coming and the one all the boxing Press and media have been asking for.
"Now it's here and we just want to sell it for the Midlands. Let's put it on at a big venue and get it on.
"To fight for the British title is everything I have ever dreamed of – it's the biggest step you can make in boxing.
"I've won the Midlands title outright, I've won a British Masters title and this is everything I've ever trained for.
"I've been given an opportunity and fingers crossed, I'm not going to fluff it and I'm going to win that British title."
McDermott visited the offices of the Express & Star to talk to sports reporter Tim Nash.
