Boxing ace Conah Walker heads back to old gym after British title success
Wolverhampton boxing hero Conah Walker headed back to where it all began to thank those who set him on his way to the top.

The 29-year-old, crowned British welterweight champion earlier this year, recently called in at the city’s Merridale Boxing Club to show the Lonsdale belt to head coach Mick Smith, who guided him through his amateur career.
Smith has remained a close friend and confidante since Walker turned professional five years ago.
Callum Dean, assistant coach at Merridale, explained: “We probably speak to Conah every couple of weeks. He has retained close ties with the gym.
“He boxed here from the age of 18 up until the age of 24 as an amateur before turning professional.
“We are so proud of him. He is only the second boxer from Wolverhampton to ever win a British title and for the young lads who are starting out at the gym, it just shows what can be achieved.”
Walker claimed the British title with a stunning 11th round knockout of Harry Scarff in January, continuing an impressive climb through the ranks which has seen him win three of his last five fights, including three by knockout.
