Wolves 1-1 Burnley – Player ratings

Rui Patricio

Could not do anything to prevent Barnes' sublime strike from going in, but a strong save from him to deny Wood in the first half crucially kept it at 1-0 before Wolves grabbed a point right at the death. Everything he had to deal with, he did so comfortably. 7

Ryan Bennett

One to forget for Bennett. His poor headed clearance led to Barnes' opener, and then he was left for dead by Wood who would have made it two had it not been for Patricio's great save. He ended up misplacing quite a lot of headers and passes, and Barnes firmly had the beating of him. 4

Conor Coady

It was Bennett's error which played a big part in the Clarets' goal, but Coady was not without fault as he should have closed Barnes down to try to put him off. Wood also had a fair amount of joy against him, winning headers and holding the ball up. 5

Willy Boly

Improved in the second half, but in the first, he also struggled to deal with the hustle and bustle approach from Wood and Barnes. Otto struggled to deal with Lowton and Gundmundsson in the first 45 too, and you could argue Boly should have offered more support. 5

Matt Doherty

Still playing catch-up after missing a large chunk of pre-season with a knee injury and is not bursting up the pitch with the intent we saw so often from him last campaign. Like against Man United, Wolves looked more threatening when Traore was on the right flank. 5

Ruben Neves

A few trademark long passes from deep got Wolves into some promising positions later on, particularly the one to Jota which eventually forced a fine block from Tarkowski. But he was also guilty of not driving forward with the ball enough. Tried his luck from range a few times. 6

Joao Moutinho

Wolves have played eight games over the past month – three in the league, five in the Europa League – and 32-year-old Moutinho has started all of them. An important player to Wolves, no doubt, but he looks fatigued from all the football he has played. Could do with a rest. 5

Morgan Gibbs-White

At 19, time is firmly on Gibbs-White's side and he has a lot of promise. But here, he was wasteful. His turns and flicks around the corner look good, but only when they come off, and too often against Burnley they resulted in the visitors getting the ball back. 5

Jonny Castro Otto

Given a tough time by Lowton and Gudmundsson, especially the former who was not at all afraid to burst forward from right-back. Also failed to impose himself on the front foot. Traore, with his quarter of an hour, made more of an impression on the opposite side. 5

Raul Jimenez

In the first half, Jimenez could not find his feet. When given the ball, his touch was either too heavy or he was tackled. But his persistence was rewarded with a goal, keeping his cool from the spot. Also hit the post towards the end of the game. 6

Diogo Jota

As ever, Jota put himself about, always looking to get on the ball and make things happen. But he was unable to harm the Burnley backline all that much. A driving run from deep thwarted by Pieters in the second half summed up a frustrating game for him. 5

Leander Dendoncker (for Moutinho, 58)

Brought more energy in the middle of the park against willing runners Westwood and Cork. 6

Pedro Neto (for Gibbs-White, 66)

Upped the tempo with a few mazy runs from wide right. 6

Adama Traore (for Doherty, 76)

After man-of-the-match displays against Man United and Torino, Traore picked up where he left off with another thrilling showing as a substitute. Burnley did not tackle him cleanly once. 7
