Bright Enobakhare signs new Wolves deal

The 17-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year deal, with the option of a further year in the club's favour.

Enobakhare was among a group of young players included in last week's pre-season training camp in Clairefontaine, and marked his first appearance in the senior ranks with a goal in the 3-2 win against Chambly.

"I was surprised to be selected to go on the pre-season tour because I never thought I would be going on that," he says.

"It was a great opportunity for me.

"And even better that I scored as well.

"The first team players were friendly to me and it was good to be around them and talking to them for advice - they all encouraged me.

Enobakhare began playing in his native Nigeria before moving to England two years ago.

He believes any sacrifices made will be more than worth it if he achieves his aims in the game.

"I started playing football back in Nigeria when I was maybe seven years old," he recalls.

"Sometimes I might miss class to play football because that is all I wanted to do.

"I moved over to England when I was 15 and played at college and then for a local Sunday League team.

"It was there I got scouted by a few teams and had trials at different clubs but Wolves was the one I enjoyed the most.

"It just felt good when I first came to Wolves – the staff were very friendly and I settled in with the other players who were good to me even though I didn't speak much English.

"You can see with Wolves too that the coach will play the young players if you show you are good enough and work hard.

"I am away from home and away from my family but I don't find that too difficult because I want to play football.

"This is my job now and if I am happy then my family are happy."

Enobakhare signed the deal earlier in the summer with Wolves now formally announcing it.

"I was very happy to sign my first professional contract after my 17th birthday," he added.

"I had a great time in my first season last year playing for the Under-18s and a couple of games for the Under-21s.

"And to become a professional and get a contract is something which needs a lot of hard work.

"I'm very happy to have signed the deal.

"The staff and everybody here has been really good to me and that has helped."

Head Coach Kenny Jackett is delighted to see Enobakhare's future secured, and is now looking for the striker to continue his development.

"We have been very impressed with Bright," he says.

"He had a good year with the Under-18s – as a team they did well and he was one of the better players.

"Now moving forward, although he is still eligible for the youth team we feel he needs to play against men.

"He has shown a good appetite and ability in the pre-season games he has played so far and in training with the first team.

"It is going to be an interesting season for Bright and we are delighted he has committed his future to us at the back end of last season.

"We hope he will now build on the good work he has done, particularly in this pre-season period where he has integrated well with the first team."
