Wolves winger Bakary Sako was today rewarded for his return to impressive form with his first international call-up for Mali.

The 25-year-old wideman is set to join up with the squad for next Wednesday's friendly against Senegal in Paris.

Sako was born in France and has previously played for France Under-21s, but his parents are from Mali and he has represented that country at Under-17 level.

"I'm very pleased to have received the call-up and am looking forward to joining up with the squad next week," said Sako.

"If I'm involved it would be my first experience of senior international football which would be a good experience and a benefit to my game."

Sako, who is Wolves' second-top scorer with eight goals, has returned to something like his best since being dropped after the 1-0 defeat at Gillingham.

After being an unused substitute for the 2-0 win against Preston, he made a scoring comeback off the bench in the 3-1 victory against Bristol City and has been a real danger in the subsequent wins over Oldham, Bradford, Notts County and Brentford.

In all, Sako has netted 16 goals in 64 League games for Wolves since signing from St Etienne for around £2.5m in August 2012.
