The Milton Keynes club – owned by boyhood Wolves fan Pete Winkelman – have offered away fans the chance to overtake the ground's away attendance record set earlier this season by Coventry City, who took 7,000 fans to stadium:mk.

The decision is in response to a Wolves fans' social media campaign '10K2MK' to encourage 10,000 away supporters to travel to the game.

The stadium holds 30,500 and MK Dons' average crowd is around 8,500.

More tickets will be available once Wolves sell 6,500 to overtake the Sky Blues' total, but the club stress they won't receive the full 10,000 allocation sought by fans, although they haven't revealed exact numbers available.

Should Wolves sell their initial allocation, it will be their biggest away following for a league game since 7,000 travelled to Sheffield Wednesday on April 21, 2002, and the largest since 33,500 went to the play-off final at the Millennium Stadium in May 2003.

Wolves attracted 6,000 followings for the Championship title-clinching game at Barnsley in April 2009 and Coventry in February 2009, while they took 4,926 to Preston and 4,461 to Port Vale last August.
