Kenny Jackett opens the door for Kevin Doyle at Wolves

Doyle has rejoined the senior group this week after spending Friday training with the excluded Roger Johnson, Stephen Ward, Jamie O'Hara, Tongo Doumbia and Georg Margreitter.

Jackett has admitted Doyle's estimated £40,000-a-week wages are too costly in League One.

Wolves are believed to be seeking £2m for the one-time £6.5m club record signing but, despite interest from Celtic, no offers have been made.

"He trained with the main group on Sunday morning and yesterday," said Jackett.

"A couple of our match days he's been training with the ones left because we've either gone away or there's been an Under-21 game.

"But he needed to get ticking over and working and where he is now, he needs games because he's missed matches.

"If he's fit, available and he's the right person on that particular day, the door is still open."

Jackett believes Doyle would be ready to play, despite failing to figure all summer.

"He's a good professional, he's very well prepared and I'm sure he's looking to get match fit because he hasn't played in pre-season," he said.

But he was reticent to talk up Doyle's chances of re-appearing in tonight's Capital One Cup tie at Morecambe.

"We'll see. I want the team to get into some kind of rhythm," added the head coach. "I don't want to be making changes for the sake of it because the side needs to settle down and know how we're playing and what we want."

But Jackett today closed the door on Johnson, O'Hara, Ward and Margreitter.

"I wouldn't think it's something I will revisit," he said.

"The club pays their wages, but it's not something I will consider this week anyway. Going forwards, they're not in my plans. I want to put my own stamp on the club and develop my own team in time."
